We are glad to hear that you enjoyed our breakfast, rooftop, cocktails and some of the playful details that make Mama Shelter what it is. At the same time, we're genuinely sorry that several aspects of your stay made your experience more difficult than it should have been. Regarding the shower overflowing on the morning of your departure, this is clearly not the experience we want for any guest — and especially not when you are trying to leave for an early international flight. We also understand your frustration regarding the security deposit's explanation you received at the front desk. These are practical matters where we should be clear, efficient and helpful, and we will share your comments with the relevant teams. We also take note of your comments regarding the restaurant atmosphere, coffee facilities and the recommendations given by our front desk team. In particular, when a guest mentions mobility concerns, the distance and accessibility of a recommendation should be communicated with particular care. We are sorry this was not the case during your stay. As for the bed in the middle of the room, the masks and the more provocative touches you mention, these are very much part of the Mama Shelter story — although we completely understand that they are not to everyone's taste. Mama Shelter was born from a desire to create something deliberately different from traditional hotels : an urban refuge built around design, conviviality, humour and a slightly cheeky spirit. That being said, we are sorry that some of these elements did not resonate with you. We're grateful that, despite these frustrations, you found the hotel clean and enjoyed some of its facilities. Thank you again for your honest feedback. I have mixed feelings about the hotel. First, beds do NOT belong in the middle of the room. It made navigating time in the room harder than it needed to be. Whoever came up with that, should be fired. Second, after arriving late at night and hungry, no one in our group wanted to go to the LOUD music thumping restaurant to eat. And for the love of God, put coffee makers in the room. We are still trying to figure out the bill as they were adding a hold, taking off a hold, adjusting blah blah blah. The person at the desk could not explain it well. On our last morning, while trying to get out of the room for a 6:40 am pick-up to the airport, the shower overflowed and soaked everything. So we had to navigate a bed in the middle of the room and a soaked carpet while trying to get ready to leave for an international flight. Location is 'eh'. We specifically asked for dinner recommendations within a 10 minute walk from the hotel. I questioned the desk employee with his recommendations, but he swore it was 10 minutes (in what world??) it was actually 25 minutes. It was hot, we had been walking all day and we had someone with us who had some mobility issues. Also, I get that it is a 'cheeky, quirky' vibe that is playful about sex -- but OH MY GOD, clearly there are some things going on in this place where there were also children present. The dude and the mistress in the rooftop bar were quite frankly, disgusting. I just wanted to eat our appetizer and enjoy our drinks while forcing myself not to scream "get a room." There always seemed to be a specific sort of clientele hanging out in front of the hotel at night. The pool was dangerous. The tile platform in the pool was slick as hell, the three steps up to the bed without a landing near the pool is questionable along with the depth of the pool not being posted is a recipe for disaster waiting to happen. Having said all this, the breakfast set up was nice, the rooftop bar was nice and the cocktails were good. Also, get rid of the masks. It may feel quirky, but it does not fit with the rest of the quirky vibe. Overall, the facility felt clean and I liked the other little quirky touches like the writings on the mirror and playing on the Mama Loves You theme.

Great location, with Riquier station making it easy to explore nearby towns, while also being a very pleasant walk to the port or old town. The room was great, as was the overall decor of the hotel, and extremely functional. The staff was super friendly and helpful - special shout out to Thibault.

We stayed 2 nights at Mama Shelter and it was delightful. They rooms are very comfortable and even though we were at street level there wasn't much noise heard in the room. The pool area was beautiful with a very chilled vibe. It is located close to port and old town - easily walkable to both. The staff at reception and pool were exceptional. Looking forward to returning here some day soon hopefully

The staff were all excellent, friendly and helpful. However, the experience was one of style over substance, with some fundamental deficiencies. The air conditioning in Room 207 was non-existent. When raised with staff they explained that the AC would not function either below 22 degrees or if any window had been opened. They reset the system and no window was ever open, but the system remained non-responsive and the temperature was unacceptable and unbearable for the location at this time of year. This is a basic need of any 4 star hotel in the South of France. In addition, despite the audio/visual system offering a filter menu to select and choose English speaking channels, when they were selected it transpired that the system was unable to screen them. If an option does not exist, do not present it as an option.

An overall great experience! The staff helped us out on numerous occasions and were very friendly. The only thing is the room was a bit warm, during the hot weather - better AC would be appreciated!

I really enjoyed my stay here. It was very well situated close to the old town in the port. The room was a decent size with very comfortable bed. Enjoyed the Decor as well. The Reception staff were incredibly helpful and gave us good recommendations for beaches and other things to do.

The location of the hotel was really good and easy to get around. Check in was smooth however we experienced a few issues with our stay. In advance we were told that the world cup final would be shown and it would be first come first served however there was only one waiter who was running around trying to help people and the bar closed before the end of the game too. The first morning when we tried to shower the drains were so badly blocked that the bathroom flooded and this leaked into the bedroom. We called reception and they said they would send someone and after a while when noone came we had to call again, my partner had to go to reception to ask as well and was just told immediaately that there were no other rooms to move to (we didn't ask that, we asked for it to be fixed so we could shower before heading out for activities we had booked). Someone eventually came and we had to use google translate and then were told we would have to wait even longer. Someone from reception came and fixed it and we were brought more towels but even when returning later that day the carpet was still wet from the flooding. Then the next day we were not given bath towels for the shower at all - they were taken and not replaced. When we called for more none came and we had to call again only for beach towels for the pool to be brought and when we asked for proper towels were told no. Then we called for an iron and again after a long wait we had to call again only to be told we would have to go to reception to get this and carry it up ourselves. We also realised that one of the housekeepers took our spare room key and we did not feel our room was safe after this so had to ask for both keys to be replaced. On the final day after check out we went upstairs to grab a coffee and we waited for more than 20 minutes only to be told our milk choice was not available - clearly they forgot our order because this was only after we questioned where our order was. The hotel is lovely but there were just a lot of issues with no real reasons given or acknowledgement of these.

We had a lovely four night stay at Mama Shelter. Good, quiet location with easy access to all parts of Niece. Staff are welcoming and the rooms were very comfortable with good sound proofing. We enjoyed the rooftop pool, very chilled with good tunes to relax to but do get there early as it gets busy quickly. We went to the rooftop bar each night for a couple of drinks before bed, nice vibe and staff very accommodating. Only minor negative was no coffee or tea in room but this would not put me off staying there again. Overall would recommend if you are looking for something a bit different to typical chain hotels.
