My wife and I stayed at the Grand Mercure in Copacabana from September 18, 2026, to September 23. On September 20, after breakfast, at around 9:30 a.m., we returned to our room (902) and found the door ajar and a man inside. As we approached the door, he said he was "almost done" and told us he was "checking whether anything was missing from the room." We found this odd and told him we needed soap, but we chose not to confront him at that moment because we didn't know who he was. He said he would take care of what we had asked for. About an hour later, we went down to the reception desk and told an employee named Creisson what had happened. He said he would speak with the supervisor and get back to us. We went to the beach, and when we returned, we spoke to Creisson again. He said the supervisor had used the key card record to identify which employee had opened the door, and that the employee said he had confused the rooms, as he had gone to bring toilet paper to room 906. However, the guests in room 906 were my parents, who denied having requested any service, including toilet paper. We then went back to the reception desk and asked to speak with the supervisor. A woman named Ísis introduced herself, and we discussed everything that had happened and pointed out the contradictions in the story. We asked her to review the security camera footage in order to, among other things, check whether this employee was carrying the toilet paper he claimed to be delivering. A few hours later, we went to Ísis again to find out what was happening. She said she had reviewed the footage, which showed that he entered our room carrying nothing, and that we arrived a minute later. Ísis said she believed he had confused the rooms and that he "got nervous" when he saw us. We asked whether it was part of the employee's duties to check rooms to see if any items were missing, and she said it was not, that he was only responsible for delivering requested items. Even so, her attitude was to dismiss the incident, and she ended by saying that we could do whatever we thought best. We have not yet determined whether anything was taken from our room, but we consider the hotel's response to the incident completely inappropriate. We feel vulnerable and unsupported in what is a very serious situation. We would like this matter to be investigated, for the necessary measures to be taken, and for us to receive an appropriate response. Also, on our last day there, it was raining and we asked for an umbrella at the reception. They made us make a deposit on our credit card in order to borrow it. On top of the security deposit already made at the check in time. We felt this was unnecessary and kind of disrespectful.

I was allocated an accessibility room without being offered any alternative, which made me extremely uncomfortable. I was also given a restaurant voucher, but only after choosing from the menu was I informed that it applied to a limited selection of dishes—overall, the experience fell well below the standard I expect from Accor.

Terrible experience. Staff was rude and unhelpful. The pillows had rips and stains on them and the curtains were filthy. I got a note in my room and they got my name wrong. The shower doors don't close all the way and the water was spilling out. Terrible. For a "5 star" hotel this is the worst place to stay at

I only chose to stay at this hotel because of my Accor membership but it was a total let down and not in keeping with the experience in many other Accor hotels. The member desk was not open during my entire stay of 3 nights, the front desk often took a long time to serve you, the room was unclean, the hallways stink, the gym only opens at 7am, way too late

Very disappointed with your hotel, should only be advertised as 2/3 star hotel. Dated rooms, very uncomfortable bed, strange odour in hallway, hallway had very soiled carpet. Air conditioning unit didn’t work properly and constant leak from hose in toilet

Housekeeping staff was spot on keeping room clean and stocked. Also, they were all very welcoming. Check-in was super accommodating. Concierge was always helpful with our questions. The room was large, clean with mini fridge that had a small freezer. Bathroom was large with a large walk-in shower. Plenty of outlets and USB ports . The bartender and restaurant staff on ground level were extremely attentive. My meals were both excellent. Roof top bar and servers also provided impeccable service and very friendly. Beach staff was so great too. This hotel is so convenient to grocery shopping, restaurants, beach, shopping and within walking distance of Ipanema. I strongly recommend this hotel.

Perfectly located, with a beautiful swimming pool overlooking Copacabana, the perfect spot to enjoy the view with a cocktail!🍹🌴 The area felt very safe and was incredibly convenient: the beach is right in front of the hotel, Ipanema and Arpoador are within walking distance, and the whole neighbourhood is lovely for strolling, shopping and exploring. Great staff, spacious and spotless rooms, and an amazing location. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Rio and absolutely recommend it!❤️🇧🇷

Accessible room for my son in law was fantastic, right through to the height of the bed. Thank you for the thought that went into making this stay awesome. The check-in counter and the concierge were amazing. They gave us great dining recommendations and also booked a Flamingo Game with door to door service. The bell boys who organised our car transfers to and from the airport just made our trip so much more easier. We only dined in for breakfast once and the buffet was excellent.

Very good customer service (early and kate check out). Price wise very convenient (low season) considering location. Only problem is that wifi is intermittent in my building block
